Stories to Screen: Roald Dahl - The Witches (PG)

In Stories to Screen: Roald Dahl, the Lincoln Theater will screen a classic family film, for free, on select Saturdays, based on a story by the acclaimed author, Roald Dahl.

A limited number of copies of the book on which the film is based can be picked up at the theater (yours to keep!) to read before the screening. Reading the book is not required to attend and enjoy.

With a deliciously wicked performance from Angelica Huston and imaginative puppetry by Jim Henson's creature shop, Nicolas Roeg's dark and witty movie captures the spirit of Roald Dahl's writing like few other adaptations. A young boy stumbles onto a witch convention and must stop them, even after he has been turned into a mouse.

It was the final film that Jim Henson personally worked on before his death, the final theatrical film produced by Lorimar Productions, and the last film made based on Dahl's material before his death (both Henson and Dahl died that year).

Running time: 1 hour, 31 minutes

Free and open to the public!
