Apollo 11 (G)

From director Todd Douglas Miller (Dinosaur 13) comes a cinematic event fifty years in the making. Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 65mm footage, and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11 takes us straight to the heart of NASA’s most celebrated mission—the one that first put men on the moon, and forever turned Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names.

Immersed in the perspectives of the astronauts, the team in Mission Control, and the millions of spectators on the ground, we vividly experience those momentous days and hours in 1969 when humankind took a giant leap into the future.

Derek Webber will lead a discussion and Q&A after Wednesday's two screenings.

Derek Webber  is the Washington DC Director of Spaceport Associates, and directed three landmark studies in commercial space business planning that established the existence of a space tourism market.  Derek’s career began as a launch vehicle and satellite engineer in the UK in what is now EADS/Astrium Space Systems. Derek holds Degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Newcastle University (UK), and postgraduate qualifications in Space Science from University College London (UK). He is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society.
